Mid-south problem solving pharmacy
 Greetings!

Did you know that we currently formulate medications for patients with chronic pain?
With customized compounded medications we are able to overcome some of the common problems associated with standard pain medications.  A few examples of the problems that patients face are, medication allergies, upset stomach, headaches, wrong medication dose, and many more.
If you are experiencing a problem with your medicaiton give me a call to discuss how I can work with you and your physician to overcome these problems and improve the management of your pain.

Sincerely,

Josh Regel, Pharm.D.

Are you taking a "statin"?
Atorvastatin (Lipitor, Caduet), Simvastatin (Zocor, Vytorin), Rosuvastatin (Crestor) etc. are a few of the more commonly prescribed cholesterol medications.  These medications are well known for their benefits, but what about their side effects.

Side effects of "Statin drugs"
Muscle Pain and Rhabdomyolysis
Muscle Weakness and Neuropathy
Memory Loss
Mental confusion
Liver damage
Digestive problems
Difficulty sleeping
Irritability and short tempers
Erectile dysfunction

If you are experiencing any of these side effects give us a call or contact your physician.

Along with causing these side effects, statins deplete the body of a critical enzyme "Co-Enzyme Q-10" or better known as Co-Q-10.  Replacing this enzyme can prevent some of the side effects from the statin medications.

Give me a call to discuss other ways to lower your cholesterol without these side effects.

Quality ControlThere are millions of people each year that are prescribed antibiotics. Antibiotics are a good way to heal an infection. Even though antibiotics can be a wonderful thing, they can be associated with some side effects. One of these side effects is diarrhea. Diarrhea if severe can be very troublesome and can even lead to hospitalization. This is called antibiotic associated diarrhea. The most severe type of AAD is Clostridium Difficile. The common symptoms of Clostridium Difficile are three days of consistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, and foul stool odor all occurring within recent usage of antibiotics.

Common treatments for Clostridium Difficile are Metrondiazole and Vancomycin. These are useful in 80 percent of patients but the other 20 percent will suffer a recurrence. These patients can benefit from a probiotic called Saccharomyces Boulardii. Saccharomyces Boulardii is a non-pathogenic, non-colonizing yeast that restores the colon to it's normal state. Saccharomyces Boulardii is free of any major side effects and is taken twice a day. It can help patients to recover from a recurrance and could even be useful for prevention in certain patient populations. Saccharomyces Boulardii can also be used in other disease states like Traveler's Diarrhea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disorder and Acute Diarrhea in Children.

Give one of our pharmacist a call for further details on saccromyces bulardi.
